Actually there are many ways to create a bootable disk. One of them is by using the application “UNetbootin” at http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ site. This method most widely used to make a bootable disk.

For this time, I will try to provide guidance in other ways, namely with the HP USB Disk Format Tool. First, download & extract 2 of these needed files, the HP USB Disk Format Tool and the Windows 98 System Files. Next follow these steps:

1. First install the HP USB Disk Format Tool.

2. Insert your flash disk on the computer.

3. IMPORTANT: Make backups of all files on your USB flash disk, because it will be erased in this process.

4. Run the HP USB Disk Format Tool application.

5. The device will automatically detect your USB.

6. Choose FAT32 File system.

7. Check on the option “Create a DOS start-up disk”.

8. In the textbox options available, browse the files on Windows 98 systems that have been extracted.

9. After that, click the Start button.

10. Click yes if there is a box warning about the removal of files.

11. Next, Copy all files from the Windows 98 system to a USB flash disk to enable detection of the CD-ROM and mouse.

Well, the process is complete, now you have a bootable disk. If you want to boot from USB, do not forget to set the BIOS settings first.

For users of Aa1 Notebook, you can press F12 after the start-up process.
